Service Description
This 2 day workshop will cover how to create a painting that explores “past and present” themes using collage processes. Collage is a powerful way to juxtapose the past with the present, memory and reality. You will be shown step by step how to develop this theme using collage techniques. We will create a range of collages using a variety of strategies and approaches that include composition, the use of symbols, text, layering and texture(s). These methods will be useful to begin a painting using the collage as a reference, and or collage as a base for a developing a painted composition. Artist: MIchael Nay Artist: Michael Nay Bio: Michael Nay is a teacher and artist whose studio practice includes Painting and Drawing. Michael has studied and taught painting and drawing throughout his life, and in recent years has taught introductory to advanced painting and drawing at TAFE and University. Michael is passionate about drawing the human figure, object composition, architecture, landscape and travel What to bring Collect a variety of items that represent both the past and the present. These could include: Copies of your photographs (old family photos – recent photos) Newspapers and magazines (vintage and or current) Textiles (fabric scraps from different eras) Found objects (items that signify different time periods) All other materials and equipment provided
