Service Description
The Drawing from Nature workshop will introduce participants to a range of drawing skills, techniques and strategies that can be used to develop an abstract artwork based on the exquisite sculptural forms, details, shapes and patterns found in the natural world. The workshop will cover sketching in pencils and charcoal, recording and developing ideas, working with collage and mixed media, working with composition and completing a final A1 size drawing. The class will be based in the studio as well as excursions to nearby St Davids Park, and the Royal Tasmania Botanical Gardens. The workshop will be tailored to all levels of experience whether that’s people who have been drawing for years or never before. However, an open mind and enthusiasm to try different things, a joy of strolling, appreciating and sitting outdoors in the gardens is a must. Artist: Dr Sue Lovegrove Sue Lovegrove is a Tasmanian painter whose artwork reflects her love for the natural environment. Often shifting between representational and abstract imagery, she investigates the meeting point between land, air and water through sensory perception of sight, sound and touch. For Sue, painting and drawing is not just about looking at landscapes but experiencing them and being touched by them. Her paintings are subtle and emotionally evocative, evoking rhythms, patterns of movement and the sounds of life. Sue has a PhD from ANU, and has held over 30 solo exhibitions through out Australia.
