Service Description

At the winter solstice thousands of people come together to carry through the streets and then burn a giant paper mache Tasmanian animal. Made by artists in Bali and called an ogoh-ogoh, the creature is filled with our written fears. We burn the fears together in a glorious ceremony on June 21st. Everyone's welcome to join in so why not do so in style wearing a mask! We ran these sessions last year as well and they were a huge hit! We suggest you book at least two sessions to be able to complete your mask (though you can book as many as you like!). These costs of these sessions have been subsidised by the ogoh-ogoh project, and all materials are provided (though you're also welcome to bring anything you'd like to use!). The ogoh-ogoh mask making sessions culminate with the final class taking place on June 21st, with the parade and burning of the ogoh-ogoh taking place that evening with participants of the mask making workshops joining in the parade! Sessions run from 26 April to 21st June, culminating in a post-workshop, pre-parade party for all mask makers at 4pm on the 21st June. Please note that there is no session on June 14 due to a 2 day dark Mofo ceramics workshop.

Cancellations made 72 hours or more prior to the session will receive a full refund or credit toward another session. Cancellations made 48 hours prior to the session will receive a credit toward a future session.
