ogoh-ogoh Mask Making for Dark Mofo
Kids from age 8 years and grown up kids of all ages are all welcome for these special sessions!
Service Description
At the winter solstice thousands of people come together to carry through the streets and then burn a giant paper mache Tasmanian animal. Made by artists in Bali and called an ogoh-ogoh, the creature is filled with our written fears. We burn the fears together in a glorious ceremony on June 15. Everyone's welcome to join in so why not do so in style wearing a mask! These Sunday afternoon mask making workshops will be run by several different artists in two week blocks, and we suggest you book at least two sessions to be able to complete your mask (though you can book as many as you like!). These costs of these sessions have been subsidised by the ogoh-ogoh project, and all materials are provided (though you're also welcome to bring anything you'd like to use!). The ogoh-ogoh mask making sessions culminate with the final class taking place on June 15th, with the parade and burning of the ogoh-ogoh taking place that evening with participants of the mask making workshops joining in the parade!
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made 72 hours or more prior to the session will receive a full refund or credit toward another session. Cancellations made 48 hours prior to the session will receive a credit toward a future session. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours notice will not be refunded but you are welcome to find someone to take your place.
