Service Description
TABULA RASA is a live collaborative event built through spoken word, live art, sound, projection and improvisation. Across the evening, artists and musicians will work individually and collectively, creating a temporary environment shaped in real time through drawing, music, movement, image and response. At the centre of the night will be a new body of work developed during the event itself. A collaborative art experience brought to you by Archaica Schola & Fugazi Gallery. Live art. Spoken word. Noise & Video. You're part of it. Bring something that makes art. Bring something that makes noise. Or just show up...that's enough! Come witness the birth of Chusk. All welcome! Refreshments provided. ABOUT FUGAZI GALLERY Fugazi Gallery is an independent artist-run platform based in Southwest Western Australia focused on collaborative visual art, spoken word, publishing, music and live performance projects. Alongside exhibitions and events across Western Australia, Fugazi Gallery has undertaken collaborative projects and artist exchanges in New York, with a focus on building connections between regional Australian artists and underground creative communities overseas. CALLUM FAIRNIE Callum Fairnie is a Western Australian artist, spoken word performer and musician, and the owner of Fugazi Gallery . His ongoing project ‘Lodger’ sits somewhere between book, diary, drawing archive and live performance, combining text, residue, sound and image into an evolving body of work. Fairnie has undertaken exhibitions and collaborative events in Western Australia, New York, Nepal and India, often working in spaces that blur the line between spoken word, live sound and visual art. For TABULA RASA, he will present readings alongside projection, guitar, singing bowls and improvised sound elements. ANGUS WATKINS Angus Watkins is a Margaret River based artist whose work is driven by instinct, repetition and accumulation. Working primarily through drawing and painting, his imagery often distorts anatomy, objects and landscape into dense, shifting forms. Watkins has collaborated with Callum Fairnie on exhibitions and live art events in both Western Australia and New York. For TABULA RASA, he will create live visual work throughout the evening, responding in real time to sound, projection and the movement of the room. MATRIKA MUSIC (SOPHIE) Matrika Music is a creative practitioner and DJ whose work moves between music, atmosphere and live performance. Having contributed
